Eavestrough & Gutter FAQ

Common questions about seamless eavestroughs, Alu-Rex gutter guards, sizing, and maintenance for Ontario homes.

Seamless vs sectional gutters — what is better?

Seamless gutters are custom-formed on-site in continuous lengths, eliminating leak-prone seams every 10 feet. Trident installs seamless aluminum as the standard for Ontario homes.

Do gutter guards actually work?

Quality systems like Alu-Rex significantly reduce clogging from leaves and pine needles while allowing water flow. They reduce maintenance but do not eliminate occasional cleaning entirely.

What size eavestroughs do I need?

Most homes use 5-inch troughs; larger roofs, steep pitches, or heavy rainfall areas benefit from 6-inch systems with oversized downspouts. Trident sizes drainage to handle Ontario storm volumes.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Without guards, twice yearly (spring and fall) is typical. With Alu-Rex guards, annual inspection is usually sufficient. See our fall gutter prep guide.

Can you replace eavestroughs without replacing the roof?

Yes. Eavestrough, fascia, and soffit work are standalone services. We often coordinate them with roof replacements for efficiency but they do not require a full roof project.
